RealTrade is a redesign project for a Swiss online marketplace focused on giving pre-owned, surplus, restored, and niche products a second life through a more modern and user-friendly eCommerce experience. The platform features a broad multi-category catalog, including lifestyle, multimedia, tools, leisure, accessories, collectibles, and secondhand goods, supported by shopping cart, account, contact, and editorial content functionality.
The main goal of the project was to refresh the visual identity of the website, improve usability, and modernize the shopping journey while preserving the existing store structure and product ecosystem. The redesign focused on making the platform feel cleaner, more contemporary, and easier to navigate for customers exploring a highly diverse catalog. The site’s own launch announcement describes the updated website as a transition “into modern times” with a new look and an improved visitor experience.

The client approached us with the goal of redesigning RealTrade’s existing marketplace website to create a more modern, structured, and intuitive digital shopping experience. The platform already contained a substantial product catalog, multiple top-level and nested categories, customer account features, a cart flow, contact channels, and editorial content. However, the website needed a more cohesive UI direction, clearer navigation, and a refreshed presentation aligned with current eCommerce expectations.
Our task was to modernize the storefront without compromising the existing product architecture and content structure. Because the catalog spans many categories and subcategories, special attention was given to improving discoverability, visual hierarchy, and overall browsing comfort across the shop and homepage.
We redesigned the key customer-facing pages to establish a cleaner and more consistent interface, with a stronger focus on category navigation, product presentation, promotional sections, and conversion-oriented user flow. The updated experience supports browsing through featured products, sale items, bestsellers, category overviews, and editorial/news content in a more organized and accessible way.
From a technical and content perspective, the redesign also needed to preserve the existing marketplace logic, including product categories, product listings, shopping cart functionality, user account access, contact flow, and newsletter subscription elements. These parts were kept functional while being visually refined and better integrated into the new UI system.
A major emphasis was placed on usability and content clarity. Since RealTrade combines everyday items, unique finds, secondhand goods, and specialty offers in one storefront, the redesign had to make this diversity feel intentional rather than fragmented. The result is a more coherent marketplace experience that better communicates the brand’s positioning as a curated destination for useful, unusual, and reusable products.
The final outcome is a refreshed and scalable eCommerce website with a cleaner interface, improved browsing logic, stronger visual consistency, and a modernized customer experience tailored to a diverse online marketplace. The January 2026 announcement on the site confirms the launch of the new version and highlights both design and feature improvements.
